👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the Cake
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8" or 9" round cake pans.
-
In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
-
Alternate adding flour mixture and milk until just combined.
-
Divide batter between pans and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
-
Cool completely before frosting.
2. Make the Buttercream
-
Beat butter until fluffy.
-
Gradually add powdered sugar.
-
Add vanilla and milk/cream as needed until smooth and spreadable.
-
Tint with food coloring if desired.
3. Assemble & Decorate
-
Level cakes and stack with buttercream in between.
-
Frost the outside smoothly (or go rustic — it’s fun!).
-
Chill for 15–20 minutes before adding the ganache drip.
4. Make the Ganache Drip
-
Heat cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips.
-
Let sit 2 mins, stir until smooth.
-
Cool until it's pourable but not runny, then drip down the edges of the cake with a spoon or squeeze bottle.
5. Create the “Melting Cone” Look
-
Take a scoop of frosting or a cake pop/mini donut, place it on top of the cake.
-
Press a sugar cone over the scoop at an angle.
-
Drizzle more ganache over it for the melty ice cream effect.
-
Add sprinkles, drizzle, and have fun with it!
🧁 Bonus Ideas:
-
Use different colored frosting inside each layer for a surprise rainbow slice.
-
Fill cones with cake pop dough or frosting for a hidden treat.
-
Make mini versions using cupcakes + mini cones.
Let me know if you want a no-bake version or an ice cream-filled cone cake twist too!
