White Wine Basted Barbecued Oysters

 White Wine Basted Barbecued Oysters

White wine basted barbecued oysters are a delicious and flavorful dish that combines the natural taste of oysters with the rich depth of white wine, creating a savory and smoky profile. Here's a recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh oysters, in the shell
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (such as Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Crusty bread for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oysters:

    • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
    • Use an oyster knife to carefully shuck the oysters. Discard the top shell but leave the oyster in the bottom shell. Place the oysters on a grill-safe tray or a piece of aluminum foil.
  2. Make the Basting Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, white wine, garlic, lemon juice, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  3. Grill the Oysters:

    • Arrange the oysters on the grill, either on the tray or directly on the grill grate. Spoon a small amount of the white wine basting sauce onto each oyster.
    • Close the lid and cook the oysters for 5-7 minutes, or until the oysters begin to open and the sauce is bubbly and fragrant. If the oysters do not open by themselves, use tongs to gently pry them open and continue grilling.
  4. Finishing Touches:

    • Once cooked, remove the oysters from the grill. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the oysters for a burst of color and flavor.
    • Serve the oysters with lemon wedges and crusty bread for dipping into the flavorful sauce.

Enjoy your white wine basted barbecued oysters as a perfect appetizer or a special treat for a seafood lover!
