Ingredients

  • 4 quarts water
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning (or your favorite seafood seasoning)
  • 2 lemons, halved
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 1 lb (450 g) baby potatoes
  • 3 ears of corn, cut into thirds
  • 1 lb (450 g) smoked sausage, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, deveined and shell-on
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: crusty bread or garlic butter for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cooking Base:

  • In a large stockpot, bring 4 quarts of water to a boil.
  • Add Old Bay seasoning, halved lemons (squeeze the juice into the pot), and smashed garlic cloves.

2. Cook the Potatoes:

  • Add the baby potatoes to the boiling water and cook for 10–12 minutes, or until just tender.

3. Add the Corn and Sausage:

  • Add the corn pieces and sausage slices to the pot.
  • Cook for an additional 8–10 minutes.

4. Cook the Shrimp:

  • Reduce the heat to medium and add the shrimp.
  • Simmer for 3–5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

5. Drain and Season:

  • Drain the shrimp boil contents using a large colander.
  • Transfer everything to a large serving platter or spread it over a newspaper-lined table for a casual feast.

6. Add Butter and Herbs:
