Stove Top Hot Chocolate Recipe
This Stove Top Hot Chocolate is a simple, creamy, and indulgent treat made right on your stovetop. It’s perfect for cozying up on a cold day or when you’re craving something warm and comforting. With just a few ingredients, you can enjoy a rich cup of hot chocolate in minutes!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk (whole, almond, oat, or any milk of choice)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or sweetener of choice)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt (optional, to enhance flavor)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Chocolate shavings or marshmallows (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Heat the Milk:
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream (if using). Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent the milk from scorching. Heat until the milk is warm but not boiling.
2. Mix Cocoa and Sugar:
While the milk is warming, whisk the cocoa powder, sugar, and pinch of salt (if using) together in a small bowl to break up any cocoa powder clumps. You can adjust the sweetness to taste by adding more or less sugar.
3. Combine Cocoa with Milk:
Once the milk is warm, add the cocoa and sugar mixture to the saucepan. Whisk continuously until the cocoa is fully dissolved and the hot chocolate is smooth.
4. Add Vanilla Extract:
Stir in the vanilla extract for extra flavor and continue to heat until the hot chocolate is steaming, but don’t let it boil.
5. Serve:
Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with whipped cream. Garnish with chocolate shavings, marshmallows, or a sprinkle of cocoa powder for an extra indulgent touch.
Tips and Variations:
- For a Vegan Version: Use non-dairy milk (like almond, oat, or coconut milk) and skip the heavy cream or replace it with coconut cream.
- For a Mocha Twist: Add a shot of espresso or brewed coffee for a mocha flavor.
- Make It Spicy: Add a pinch of cinnamon or cayenne pepper to give your hot chocolate a warm, spicy kick.
This Stove Top Hot Chocolate is a quick, no-fuss way to enjoy a delicious cup of cocoa with a rich, creamy texture. Perfect for any occasion that calls for a warm, comforting drink! 🍫☕
