 Snow Crab Recipe

Snow Crab Recipe

Snow crab legs are tender and sweet, and with the right seasoning, they make for a luxurious and easy-to-make seafood dish. This simple recipe highlights the natural flavor of the snow crab, complemented by a rich garlic butter sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

(Serves 2-4)

  • 2 pounds snow crab legs (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (4 tablespoons)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crab Legs

  • If using frozen crab legs, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight, or run cold water over them for about 10-15 minutes before cooking.
  • If the crab legs are pre-cooked (as most are), you are simply reheating them.
  • Use kitchen scissors to cut the shell along the top to make it easier to access the meat when eating.

2. Boil or Steam the Crab Legs

  • Boil: Fill a large pot with water and add a pinch of salt. Bring the water to a boil, then add the crab legs. Boil for 4-5 minutes, just until heated through.
  • Steam: Alternatively, steam the crab legs by placing them in a steamer basket over simmering water for 6-8 minutes.

3. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, just until fragrant.
  • Stir in the lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • Remove from heat and set aside.

4. Serve the Crab Legs

  • Place the cooked crab legs on a serving platter.
  • Pour the garlic butter sauce into small dipping bowls and garnish with fresh parsley.
  • Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra citrusy kick.

Tips

  • Cracking the Crab: Use a seafood cracker or small nutcracker to break open the hard shell of the legs when eating.
  • Extra Flavor: For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the butter sauce.
  • Side Dishes: Snow crab pairs well with roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, or a simple green salad.

This Snow Crab recipe is a delightful, easy-to-make seafood dish that highlights the delicate sweetness of the crab, complemented by a rich, flavorful garlic butter sauce. 🦀🧄🍋
