One Minute Steamed Cauliflower Recipe

This One Minute Steamed Cauliflower recipe is the perfect solution when you're looking for a quick, healthy, and minimal-effort way to enjoy cauliflower. The Instant Pot or microwave steam method preserves the cauliflower’s nutrients while creating a tender texture in just a minute!

Ingredients

(Serves 2)

  • 1 small head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or chives) for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cauliflower

  • Cut the cauliflower into small, evenly sized florets. This ensures they cook evenly and quickly.

2. Steam in the Instant Pot (One Minute)

  • Place a steamer basket or trivet in the Instant Pot. Add the cauliflower florets to the basket or on top of the trivet.
  • Add 1/4 cup of water to the Instant Pot.
  • Close the lid and set the valve to "Sealing."
  • Set the Instant Pot to "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" on high for 1 minute. The Instant Pot will take a few minutes to come to pressure before the cooking time begins.
  • When the timer goes off, carefully perform a quick release by turning the valve to "Venting" to release the pressure.

3. Steam in the Microwave (One Minute)

  • Place the cauliflower florets in a microwave-safe bowl and add 1/4 cup of water.
  • Cover the bowl with a microwave-safe lid or plate.
  • Microwave on high for 1 minute. Check for tenderness and continue to microwave in 30-second intervals if more time is needed.

4. Season and Serve

  • Once the cauliflower is tender, remove it from the Instant Pot or microwave.
  • Toss with olive oil or butter, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs, if desired, for extra flavor and color.

Tips

  • For Extra Flavor: Add a sprinkle of garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, or lemon zest after steaming.
  • Make it Creamy: Stir in a spoonful of sour cream or cream cheese for a creamy texture.
  • Serve as a Side: This one-minute steamed cauliflower is great as a side dish or added to salads, pasta, or grain bowls.
