  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the Brownie Crust

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, stirring until combined.
  4. Mix in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until smooth.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into a greased 9-inch pie dish and bake for 18-20 minutes. The center should be set but soft. Let it cool completely.

2️⃣ Make the Chocolate Pudding Filling

  1. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt over medium heat.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the hot milk mixture into the egg yolks, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
  4. Pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan and cook, stirring constantly, until the pudding thickens (about 5-7 minutes).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips until smooth.
  6. Let the pudding cool to room temperature, then pour it into the cooled brownie crust.

3️⃣ Make the Whipped Topping

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  2. Spread the whipped cream over the pudding filling.

4️⃣ Garnish & Serve

  1. Garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the pudding to set.
