 Healthy Garlic Parmesan Fries

Healthy Garlic Parmesan Fries

These healthy garlic Parmesan fries are a lighter alternative to the traditional deep-fried version. They are baked until crispy and golden and tossed in a delicious garlic Parmesan coating. Perfect as a snack or a side dish, these fries are just as flavorful without all the extra oil.

Ingredients:

  • 4 large russet potatoes (or any variety of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:

    • Wash and scrub the potatoes to remove any dirt. Cut them into thin fries (about 1/4-inch thick). You can cut them into strips or wedges, depending on your preference.
  3. Season the Potatoes:

    • In a large bowl, toss the cut potato fries with olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Make sure the fries are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. Bake the Fries:

    • Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure there is some space between each fry to allow them to crisp up.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through to ensure even cooking. Bake until the fries are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  5. Add Parmesan:

    • Once the fries are baked, remove them from the oven and immediately sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot fries. Toss the fries to coat them in the Parmesan while they’re still warm.
  6. Garnish and Serve:

    • Garnish the fries with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
    • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, ranch, or garlic aioli.

Tips:

  • For Extra Crispiness: Soak the cut potatoes in water for 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which will help them crisp up even more during baking.
  • Customization: You can add other seasonings, such as paprika or onion powder, for additional flavor. If you want a bit of heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Storage: Leftover fries can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven to restore their crispiness.

These healthy garlic Parmesan fries are a guilt-free way to enjoy a crispy and flavorful side dish! They make for a great addition to any meal or as a satisfying snack.
