Fruity Chocolate Bark

Fruity Chocolate Bark Recipe

Fruity Chocolate Bark Recipe

This fruity chocolate bark is a deliciously simple treat that combines rich, smooth chocolate with the refreshing sweetness of dried fruits and a touch of nuts. It's perfect for a quick snack, gift-giving, or a party treat!

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (about 1 cup) dark chocolate (or milk chocolate, based on preference)
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup dried apricots (chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds (or any nut of your choice, such as pistachios or walnuts)
  • 1/4 cup coconut flakes (optional)
  • A pinch of sea salt (optional, for added flavor contrast)

Instructions:

1. Melt the Chocolate:

  • Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it using one of the following methods:
    • Double Boiler: Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted.
    • Microwave: Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

2. Prepare the Baking Sheet:

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent the bark from sticking.

3. Spread the Chocolate:

  • Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it into an even layer, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.

4. Add the Toppings:

  • While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle the dried cranberries, dried apricots, chopped almonds, and coconut flakes evenly over the surface. Press the toppings gently into the chocolate to help them stick.
  • Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the bark to enhance the flavors, especially if using dark chocolate.

5. Cool and Set:

  • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate has fully set and hardened.

6. Break into Pieces:

  • Once the chocolate has hardened, break it into irregular pieces with your hands or use a sharp knife to cut it into squares.

Storage:

  • Store the fruity chocolate bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. If you live in a warmer climate, refrigerating it will prevent the chocolate from melting.

Tips:

  • Customizations: You can customize this bark by adding other fruits like dried cherries, blueberries, or goji berries. You can also add seeds, like pumpkin or sunflower, for extra crunch.
  • Chocolate Choices: Use your favorite chocolate—dark chocolate gives a more intense flavor, while milk chocolate offers a sweeter contrast to the fruits.
  • Vegan Option: Use dairy-free chocolate and ensure that any added ingredients (like nuts and dried fruits) are free from animal products.

This fruity chocolate bark is a perfect blend of chocolatey richness, chewy sweetness, and crunchy textures, making it a favorite snack for any occasion!
