Carrabba's Bread Dipping Spice Recipe

This is a homemade version of the bread dipping spice mix inspired by Carrabba's Italian Grill. The combination of herbs and spices makes for the perfect dip for fresh bread, creating a savory, flavorful experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tbsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tbsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Spice Blend:

    • In a small bowl, combine the dried basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, onion powder, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
  2. Store:

    • If you're making a larger batch, store the spice mix in an airtight container, and keep it in a cool, dry place. This spice blend will last for several months.
  3. Serve:

    • To serve, pour about 1/4 cup of olive oil onto a small plate. Sprinkle the desired amount of the spice mix on top of the oil. Stir to combine, and dip your favorite fresh bread into the seasoned olive oil.
  4. Optional:

    • For an added touch, you can sprinkle the Parmesan cheese into the olive oil and spice mixture just before serving for extra flavor and richness.

Tips:

  • Feel free to adjust the spice levels according to your preference. If you like it spicier, add more red pepper flakes.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese can be used instead of pre-grated for a richer, more authentic flavor.
