Bacon & Potato Patties

 Bacon & Potato Patties

Bacon & Potato Patties

These Bacon & Potato Patties are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with savory bits of bacon and mashed potatoes. Perfect as a snack, side dish, or even a light meal.

Ingredients

(Makes about 8 patties)

  • 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

1. Cook the Potatoes

  • Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender (about 10-12 minutes).
  • Drain and mash the potatoes until smooth. Let them cool slightly.

2. Prepare the Bacon and Mix

  • While the potatoes are cooking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble into small pieces.
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, crumbled bacon, green onions, cheddar cheese (if using), egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

3. Form the Patties

  • With your hands, shape the potato mixture into small patties (about 2-3 inches in diameter).

4. Coat the Patties

  • Lightly dredge each patty in flour, tapping off any excess.

5. Fry the Patties

  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

6. Serve

  • Serve warm with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips

  • Make Ahead: You can make the patties ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 1 day before frying.
  • Add-ins: Customize with extras like sautéed onions, herbs, or even a little hot sauce for extra flavor.
  • Air Fryer Option: For a lighter version, cook the patties in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

These Bacon & Potato Patties are crispy, savory, and satisfyingly delicious. Perfect for a family meal or as an appetizer for a gathering! 🥔🥓
